The Indiana chapter formed a Government Affairs committee shortly after our December radon conference. A strategic plan was formed at the start of the year focusing on building relationships with our local and key legislators in the environmental arena. Through the development of these relationships, we plan to introduce legislation in 2025 that will require a Radon disclosure as part of a residential real estate transaction. Other states that have enacted such legislation have seen an immediate and robust rise in Radon awareness. This led to an increase in testing and mitigation thereby protecting more of the citizens in those states. We are also discussing the creation of a radon licensing board to assist the state in ensuring that practitioners in our industry are providing quality and service in accordance with the standards that have been adopted by the Indoor Environments Association and the Indiana Department of Health. The current committee members are:
Bob Coffee (Chair), Your Environmental Services LLC, Mishawaka
Andrea Ash Stephens, Protect Environmental, Louisville
Dan Elliot, VET Environmental Engineering, LLC, Bloomington
Chris Ferguson, Protect Environmental, Noblesville
Lynda King, BPG Inspections, Indianapolis
Joe Mishak, Aardvark Home Inspectors and Pest Control, Fort Wayne
Tiffany Nichols, American Lung Association, Indianapolis
Jane Malone, Indoor Environments Association (Advisor)
